Probably cuz there’s a difference between being objectified…that Kory was objectified in the first issue of RH&tO and there was a huge uproar, but Jason is completely naked in most of this issue and there isn’t as much as a peep (other than fangirl appreciation) about it?
Thiiiiiiis. See, there’s no problem in being sexy, in being physically attractive. But when that’s ALL you are, when that’s all your identity is reduced to, when you have no other redeeming qualities and when the character is denied actions, decision making and identity beyond their sexiness, that’s when we have a problem.
Not because the character is physically enticing. It’s comics, they’re larger-than-life beings, we like them to be nice on the eyes, its what we fantasize being able to do.
But I don’t think there are many people who would enjoy being reduced down to meat; their face, opinions, actions, interests rendered irrelevant. I don’t know how many men have experienced this, but any woman who has been subject to physical or verbal attacks based on their sex or gender (and if you’re a woman, the likeliehood is scary high that you have already been in your life or will be) will know how utterly uncomfortable and uncool that is.
